This exquisite and rare pair of Game bird related Novelty silver menu holders or place card holders bears the marks the Adie Bothers and is dated Birmingham 1925. The circular mounts inset with a pique tortoiseshell disc decorated with birds. Raised on a fully hallmarked circular stand.

This gorgeous Victorian silver chatelaine is hallmarked for London 1893 and bears the marks of Frederick Edmonds who was active between 1893 and 1895. The stunning cast silver belt hook modelled as winged classical figure. It has three belcher chains mounted with useful household appendages comprising a folding fruit knife, a thimble bucket and a retractable pencil, all still functioning.

This delightful early George V solid silver single sovereign case was made by the prolific Joseph Gloster. Of circular form, both front and back profusely engraved with foliate scrolls. The front reserve vacant. The sprung hinged cover operated by a push button. Opens to reveal a spring loaded compartment. Suspension loop. Snaps shut beautifully. All sprung mechanisms in good order.

This exquisite and very rare Georgian silver travelling corkscrew is dated Birmingham 1794 and was made by the prolific silversmith John Taylor, who specialised in small pieces and objects of vertu.

The silver collar with a stunning green stained ivory barrel-shaped handle. The reeded cover unscrews to reveal the original steel helix. The cover is fully hallmarked at the base, which is quite unusual and is a bonus.

This wonderful Georgian silver nutmeg grater bears the marks of the prolific silversmith Joseph Taylor who was part of the Birmingham toy making * fraternity. It is dated Birmingham 1799 and is in very good order, it is fully hallmarked, which was not often the case. The bright-cut oval body is the perfect size to house a nutmeg. The bright-cut domed pull-off cover opens to reveal the original steel grater. The base with pull-off cover. The lid hallmarked with maker's marks. The inner base fully hallmarked. The base initialled. It is a wonderful and complete example.

* from the late 18th to early 19th Century, Birmingham was the centre for the making of “toys”: small decorative objects from silver. They were produced in small family businesses and factories throughout Birmingham. They made a range of items including patch boxes, nutmeg graters, buckles, caddy spoons, vinaigrettes, snuff boxes and babies rattles.

This exquisite and very unusual Georgian nutmeg grater bears the marks of the sought-after silversmith Samuel Pemberton and is dated Birmingham 1795. Nutmeg graters are scarce and usually in poor condition. This one is in excellent order, is fully hallmarked, which is not always the case.
The bright-cut cylindrical body is the perfect size to house a nutmeg, as can be seen on one of my images. The pull-off domed cover opens to reveal the original steel grater. The lower section with a pull-off lid protecting the grater. The inner lid is fully hallmarked.

This is a divine George III silver egg-shaped nutmeg grater. The pull-off cover revealing a steel rasp. Engraved all over with delicate bright-cut decorations. Unmarked, as it was very often the case with Georgian small objects of vertu , but guaranteed and tested as silver.
